Gastronomer:
A connoisseur of good food and drink. A gourmet.
One fond of good living, an epicure.
This blog is about my fine dining adventures in the greater Phoenix metro area and beyond.
I love great food and drink, and I am always on the lookout for new dins and drinks. I have made out thus far with only my own wits and the sometimes apocryphal aid of the Phoenix New Times "Cafe" section. I have been brought to the point of "bouh" (an onomatopoeic term created by my friend to indicate being sated to the point of sickness and exhaustion) however, with restaurant reviews which are either demonstrations of an epicurean sophistication far above a mortal like myself, or which are simply advertisements for noisy, child-filled chain restaurants. I have found real "restauranting" (my term for seeking new dining opportunities) to be much more bizarre and personality driven, with owners, servers, diners, and food contributing to an overall experience which may or may not reflect how the proprieter wishes the restaurant to be. That experience is not my making, but it is my joy. Reporting here will be my newest joy, inasmuch as I get to combine two favourite activities: making fun of stuff and eating a lot.
My plan is to review a restaurant a week, though, by review, I mean tell a vignette about what I experienced, which should be mostly consistent with what actually happened. I just want people to know something about what a restaurant is really like before they drive across town for something shitty, which sounded cool when some bon vivant who went to culinary school said how exciting the cuisine there is.
I'm going to write about each restaurant the way it happened to me, and I think that will be the most honest review of all.
bon appetit! (or not, more for me)
